Full Mouth Cleaning (Prophylaxis)

Full Mouth Cleaning (Prophylaxis)

The mouth is an area with a very particular environment that demands special care such as regular teeth cleaning. Teeth cleaning remove the deposits of plaque and tartar (calcified plaque) which grow naturally in the mouth one hour after tooth brushing. The excess of this film of bacteria increases the risk of having gum disease; as a preventive measure, a professional dental cleaning is recommended at least twice a year. IN Mario Garita Dental Clinic, this professional cleaning is performed by a trained dental hygienist whose job is to teach the patient how to be thorough in the daily routine of brushing and flossing and to locate areas in the mouth that may require special attention.

People who practice proper oral hygiene habits at home with proper brushing and flossing techniques usually do not experience pain or discomfort during a cleaning. However, those with sensitive gums may experience some discomfort during the procedure and may need a topical or local anesthetic.

For us in Mario Garita MP Dental Clinic is important to inform our patients of all the details and implications of the procedure were going to perform.
